The guitar is not a linear instrument but six linear instruments embedded in parallel on one neck. Mastering playing on one of these instruments (a string) means mastering playing on the other five.
A string and the frets underneath it are like a piano keyboard where all the keys have the same importance (no white keys forward and black keys recessed).
The relationship between the pianos is called tuning.
And you can play all six pianos at once!
